Bonding and Fillings in Colorado Springs
A composite resin that is used as an alternative to amalgams and veneers is generally referred to as a “bonding”. This is a great alternative for patients who do not want the look of silver in their mouths and do not want the expense of veneers. Bonding can be used to repair chips or cracks in a tooth due to decay.
Procedure
The bonding procedure takes one session. The first step is to remove the undesired portion of the decaying tooth. The tooth is then prepped with a liquid or gel and a bonding agent is then applied. This will allow the composite resin to be placed in the prepared tooth. The resin is then trimmed and groomed, leaving you with a full natural looking restored smile.
Bonding Durability
Although composite resins are aesthetically fulfilling and easily placed, these resins typically last from 4-7 years before they begin to chip and start to break down. A new replacement restoration is then required.
